The Home Project is an immersive performance piece that engages with ideas of homecoming, safety, and complex histories. The project combined aspects of dance, theater and sound design. Each of five rooms hosted an individual, original composition of ambient noise and spoken text. Using a technique first devised by composer Alvin Lucier in the piece "I Am Sitting In A Room", the diary-like text spoken by each participating actor/dancer is made to dissolve into the "room tones" that emanate from the acoustic quality of the exact room the performance took place in. The performance was held on April 5th and 6th on the Wesleyan University campus, in Middletown Connecticut.
